EB Games

EB Games store closures: Parkes' store shuts suddenly, company avoiding questions
THE sudden closure of the EB Games store in Parkes has came less than a month after the community was told it was safe amid nationwide closures.
In mid January news broke that the video game and entertainment software retailer would shut down "unprofitable" stores across Australia by the end of that month.
However on January 13, EB Games told Australian Community Media that this outlet would not be impacted.
"The Bathurst, Dubbo, Goulburn, Lithgow, Mudgee, Orange and Parkes stores are not part of these closures," a company spokesman said.

However, the Parkes store was suddenly shut down late last week and all EB Games signage was immediately removed.
On January 13, the retailer's spokesman said the store closures were due to Australia's changing retail environment.

"Like all businesses, we are constantly evaluating our property portfolio to ensure that our stores mix is in-line with the ever changing retail landscape," he said.
"After careful consideration we will be closing 19 unprofitable stores at the end of January."
At the time, the spokesman said where possible, staff would be offered the opportunity to work in surrounding stores.

Australian Community Media has since made numerous requests for information from EB Games on why the Parkes store was shut down and to date has not been provided with any answers.
